We are witnessing the pride cycle in real time with Utah football
Specifically the not-enjoyable part for a society, the part where they fall.

The Utes enjoyed some success, won 2 conference championships. They were able to replace key players leaving their defense for the NFL year after year. A next-man-up culture was their M.O. but then, somewhere in there, much like the societies in the Book of Mormon, the Utes began to enjoy the fruits of their labor, perhaps leading to a subtle complacency. They weren’t prepared to weather storms that may rise up and introduce challenges.

This mirrors the pride cycle's narrative: as success breeds pride, it often leads to a disconnect from the values that brought that success in the first place. The Utes, once known for their grit and teamwork, are now exhibiting signs of individualism and a lack of cohesion.

If they learn, they will enter the humility and repentance phase of the cycle, but how long will it take?
