My HCBW and I came up from L.A. for the AZ and Ok St games and staying in Park City for the week. We were walking Main St this afternoon, and lots of OK St fans around. We came out of Rocky Mt. Choc Fctry and sat on the bench next to a couple with their Ok St gear on. He and his wife met at Ok St and have had season tickets since they graduated (they looked like they were in their 60's). They pick an away game to go to every year with the alumni association. They were super friendly, congratulatory on the comeback, and were happy it was at a least an exciting competitive game. They came into it thinking Ok St may lose badly. Anyway, they were completely impressed by the game day experience, hospitality and kindness shown to them. Right after, we stood up we talked to a couple of other Ok St fans. Both men, probably in their 50's. One said he's been to many other venues across the country, and this BYU game experience was the best he's ever been to. The other guy said, "and everyone is just to darn nice, it'll be hard not to cheer for BYU the rest of the season." It was fun talking about the Big 12 and Ok St and what other teams are their rivals, or not and how BYU is such a good fit for the Big 12.
They said K St fans are nice, TTech fans are awful.They all asked about the BYU-UU rivalry, which, of course, I answered is huge.They asked if BYU is happy to be in the Big 12. I said absolutely, BYU has been independent for the past 12 years, and unlike Utah, who call it a truck stop conference, we are really happy to be apart of the Big 12. They had heard that about Utah too. Anyway, can definitely say BYU is making huge positive impressions on the Big 12 conf and it's fans. It was really enjoyable talking with the Ok St fans. The men even answered my wife "yes ma'am" or "no ma'am" when she'd ask a question. Great people, great conference to be a part of. Even made my wife and I think about making the trip to Stillwater next time BYU plays their.
