It puts a spotlight on playmakers, and it lets them make plays. Think about Tyler Batty: He came on the scene pretty hot as a freshman, then kind of disappeared. But now as a senior in Jay Hill's defense, he's making impact plays every single week.
Think about Bagnah, Glasker, Kelly, and Robinson. Would Robinson have a corner-blitz-tipped-ball interception in a *previous* defensive scheme? Would Glasker, Bagnah, and Kelly be able to terrorize QBs on exotic blitz packages?
In previous years I honestly wanted to get up out of my seat and walk around the stadium while BYU was on defense. It was bland, boring, and painful to watch. Now it's the opposite. Defense is fun again.
Jay Hill for president.
