2FarGone No One of Consequence
The Big 12 Conference Race — No. 2 (Tied) BYU (2-0)
Conference Top Five: No. 1 Texas Tech (3-0); No. 2 (Tied) BYU (2-0); No. 2 (Tied) Iowa State (2-0); No. 2 (Tied) Colorado (2-0); and No. 2 (Tied) West Virginia (2-0)

In order of likelihood to reach the Conference Championship game.

1. Iowa State: Iowa State looked very good against Baylor last week. They still have to play No. 1 Texas Tech (3-0), Utah, and Kansas State. I think Iowa State has the firepower to beat all three, but it is more likely that they drop that last game on November 30 to Kansas State.

2. BYU: BYU's biggest hurdles are Arizona this week, then at UCF and at Utah. If BYU wins this week, they may be favored the rest of the way — even at Utah — which may be a hurdle in and of itself. The rivalry game is the hardest game, but a long trip to Orlando could be a trap game.

3. Texas Tech: Texas Tech beat Arizona last week to be the first team to get to 3-0 in conference. In so doing, they (temporarily) took the No. 1 conference ranking away from BYU. They will likely be taking in a 5-0 conference record into their game against Iowa State and then follow that up with Colorado. They could lose either of those games, but if they win, they will be headed to the championship game.

4. (Tied) Colorado: If Colorado makes it to the conference championship game, they will have earned it. They have K-State this week, then Arizona, and a week later Texas Tech and Utah. It is difficult to think that Colorado makes it through that run unscathed.

4. (Tied) Kansas State: Kansas State already played (and lost) their most difficult game this year. They have Colorado this week and then a very favorable schedule until they reach the Iowa State showdown at the end of the year. Arizona State may be able to knock them off if they aren't careful.

5. (Tied) Utah: Utah's defense should keep them in every game they play in, even when their freshman QB is having growing pains. Utah has the toughest road, though, with Arizona State, BYU, Colorado, and Iowa State.

5. (Tied) Arizona State: Arizona State is a run-heavy team with an attacking defense that could prove spoiler to some of the higher ranked teams, as they play Utah, BYU and Kansas State. If they put some things together, they could surprise and get to the championship game themselves.

Honorable Mention: Arizona, West Virginia

The most likely championship game match-up will be the winner of the BYU-Utah game against the winner of the Iowa State-Kansas State game.

BYU versus Iowa State (mostly because I don't want to see a rematch, but it could go either way)
