About the worst golfer to ever play in the British Open. Plays it in 1975 as his first ever tournament after working as a crane operator at the docks. Mark Rylance is great as the lead and Sally Hawkins is great as his wife. Actors playing his kids are just okay. Has some good laughs, though more serious than you might expect. Easy to see how a Will Ferrell, etc. version might take the same true story and go broad with it, but this approach has somewhat bigger ideas on its mind. Has some nice scenes at the end that bring it home.
