With the heating element (heating rod) going out?

This is the second time this has happened to me since I got it. I have had it 4 years. Is this common or do I just have a lemon here?

Brisket was trimmed and rubbed and now I have to cook it in the oven because the smoker is broken.

Incredibly frustrating.
