Here is my logic:

1) They are already playing in Utah. They know the culture, they are around BYU fans, they have many contacts and people close to BYU and the church. Utah is a great place to live, and once people are here, some of the weird stereotypes don't get in people's heads that keep them from considering BYU. This is huge, and you can see how this has helped us land other players from Wasatch academy like Fous, Keba, Richie, Lohner. And we were in the mix with other dudes to the end as well. Playing prep ball in Utah is a huge advantage for us.

2) We are going to get them (especially AJ) a compelling NIL package, along with a great story on how BYU alumni treat their former players.

3) We are the only school that has both of them in their top schools. We know they came to Utah to play together, so it seems they would be very interested in playing together at the college level.

4) The honor code is becoming less of an issue for BYU, especially with basketball. Its clear that BYU is not strictly enforcing the honor code as in times past, and when guys are only playing for a year, Young has done a great job selling it as a positive. I don't think it hurts us going forward for most dudes.

5) All of the major recruiting services and comments from the recruits and their families have BYU at the top of the list or near the top.

6) Young has some serious magic going on right now. We have no idea how it will translate to the court yet, but there can be no denying that he has more excitement than about any program in the country right now. Recruits can feel that energy.

I won't be surprised if they both choose another school, but I'm also not going to be surprised if we get them, and I'm not going to downplay that chance to protect getting my hopes up. Getting our hopes up is the best part of being a fan!
