big win for the at-large profile and for staying in race for regular season
conference championship. Now just 3 points back, although in fifth. BYU-10, TCU-11, Colorado, TT, and WV with 13. BYU made up 2 points on TCU and West Virginia this weekend, each of whom tied. Unfortunately BYU has no regular season matchup against Colorado or WVU so no chance to take points away from those teams head to head.

What BYU lacks in quality compared to last season, they make up for it in suspense. Iowa St. is better than they were last season and impressively physical. Would have felt like a loss for us if we hadn't come up with the winner at the end.

A little unnerving that its the third straight game of giving up a kind of weak goal to an inferior team. indecisiveness between GK and defender in U of U game, defender not on post for corner kick in OSU game, and here against ISU our defender not pressuring the ISU attacker on the flank. Makes it more work for us, but at least makes these games dramatic. some terrific shots or craftiness by opponents on those goals, but with better defending they likely don't happen.

A win over a lower ranked team like ISU (200 in RPI and 124 in Massey) doesn't boost BYU's rankings, but the win at least maintains it. It should help the offensive confidence to get the 3 goals (and should have been 4).

Getting a game over .500 helps the NCAA tournament profile. BYU will be favored in 4 or 5 of the last regular season 6 matches, and they need 4 or 5 wins to stay on the right side of the bubble.
