They need to create a North, South, East and West Conference and then a Champions Conference... I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, but there are 66 teams considered to be in Non-power Conferences, and yes I'm counting Washington State and Oregon State and also UConn and UMass in this.
It would mean each of the directional conferences go to 13 teams, while the Champions conference plays at 14 teams. Or We create 5 directional conferences, splitting up the East into a North and South East + the Champions Conference. In that scenario you could go with 10 teams in each of the directional conferences and 16 teams in the Champions Conference.
Either way, at the end of the season you have the top 1 or 2 teams get into the playoff, bottom 5 teams in the Champions Conference get relegated, while the top teams in the directional conferences get promoted to the Champions Conference or you could really create some turn over by having the top 2 teams from each directional conference advance while the bottom 10 teams in the Champions Conference get demoted.
I think something like this could really generate a lot of interest in the College Football world in general thus could create some revenue value that could be shared between each of the teams that could equal more $$$ then they currently make... you could have some exciting games in November that could determine a promotion, or getting demoted... It could generate some new and interesting games that normally wouldn't happen in the current system. Some new Rivalry games could form from this... I think interest wise, I think most college football fans would like to see a game in November that has advancement on the line vs 2 G5 teams, rather than watching Pitt vs Northwestern.
This would apply to Football only, all other sports would remain in their conferences.
