It's generally true that this generation wants more than previous generations
however, property size is a major exception. As houses continue to get bigger properties get smaller.

There was a house from the 1950's in our neighborhood on a 1 acre lot. It was torn down and they just built 5 new houses on that same lot. This is not an uncommon scenario. Modern houses tend to be build on postage stamp sized lots where you can almost lean out your window and touch your neighbor's house.

My grandpa was uneducated and spent his career working at Geneva Steel. They had one income and 5 kids. They lived on a huge, beautiful property at the mouth of a canyon in a large house and had 2 acres which have now been sold and subdivided into multiple houses.

Living on large property is now reserved for the top 0.1%
