Being a man/husband/father requires a lot of sacrifices. It can be tough.
I still haven’t graduated. I’ve been veryyy slowly chipping away at school while working. My wife is in nursing school and we have a young daughter. A few months ago, after a lot of really hard work, I got accepted into a pretty sweet program called sandbox. It is a Utah based company that runs the program with universities in the state. Basically, you are mentored by business leaders and partner with other students in business/computer science programs to create a tech startup. You take 2 full semesters to focus solely on the program. It’s pretty awesome and some cool startups have come out of it. I was so pumped to get in. It took a lot of hard work and was a very competitive program. Getting in was a major accomplishment. But after a few weeks, I had to drop out because with all the other responsibilities I have, I couldn’t put the time I needed into the program. Today, I’m seeing all these posts on Instagram and LinkedIn from those in my cohort who are starting to gain traction in their companies and it hurts. I just needed a little bit to vent. It’s hard giving up such a major opportunity. I’m just frustrated today.
