Week 4 FEI numbers have been released (they may have been out yesterday)
BYU is up to #28 overall in FEI.

They are #64 in Offensive FEI.
They are #13(!!) in Defensive FEI
They are #16 in Special Teams FEI.

One thing to note is that while the Offensive numbers so far this season are not as good as the Defensive numbers, we have seen drastic improvements on both side of the ball when compared to last season (we were #98 in offense and #51 in defense last year). So while I understand there are areas we can improve on offense, it is obvious we are doing better on that side of the ball than last year.

One other note: The people who produce FEI also provide a Game Rating which is "an opponent-adjusted data representing scoring value generated per possession relative to an average performance on a neutral field against an average opponent." While the season is still young, BYU's performance against Kansas St. got a Game Rating of 2.31, which is the 3rd highest rating this season (behind Texas's 31-12 W over Michigan and Oregon's 49-14 W over Oregon St.). It's also the 3rd highest Game Rating BYU has had since 2007 (which is the farthest back the metric is tracked). There are only 7 times in the last 18 years that BYU has had a Game Rating over 2.0 (4 of them came in 2020), and most seasons BYU may have 1 game at most that has a rating over 1.0. No matter how you slice it, this W over Kansas St. was absolutely dominating and was one of the more impressive performances that BYU has had in the last 20 years. During the independent era BYU fans would have absolutely lost their minds after beating a top-15 team by 29 points.
