was so captivated that I couldn't stop watching. The interview was especially poignant for me because I was a teenager when Gifford played and I remember him not only as a great quarterback, but as a good BYU basketball player, too. Gifford's stories about the brilliance of Doug Scoville and LaVell Edwards are fascinating. And he's a firm believer in BYU athletics as an important part of the Church's public image. The man is top notch in every aspect of his life. Chad Lewis comes on at the end and he's another guy who makes me proud to be a Cougar.

Finally, Gifford's description of the winning play over Arizona in Tucson in 1976 is amazing. It made me emotional because I remember listening to Paul James make the call on KSL Radio all those years ago. BYU won on a Hail Mary on the last play of the game in torrential rain.
