was being able to watch ESPN, especially SportsCenter - this was the late 90s and early 00s. And when ESPN added ESPN2 it was even better.
I travel 2 - 4 nights a month for work. I still romanticize getting ready for the morning with SportsCenter on... being able to catch the highlights from the previous day. SportsCenter is misnomer now... its "The View" with a same six clips playing over and over. There were 10 MLB games yesterday... no mention. No mention of the college football weekend, no mention of the WNBA (I know, I know... but it is ESPN), no mention of anything else except the NFL weekend and Monday night football.
I imagine their guys walking into the studio each morning and being assigned a topic or point to argue against the other guys... and somehow Stephen A gets "laugh at the Cowboys" and "scream your opinion."
I'm not upset with the coverage they do provide... but its not fun TV anymore... I guess I'm old and am just reminiscing and experiencing nostalgia.
The real question I have is in this world of fast production media, is there a youtuber, tiktoker, instagrammer who does sports reporting. I'd imagine they'd be severely limited due to licensing and reproduction rights, but surely someone has done this.
