Arizona: Easily beat two bad teams and then got spanked by KState. Verdict: Seem a bit worse than expected. Don't seem anywhere near what they were last year.
Arizona State: Close wins against Miss St(home) and Texas St(away). Verdict: Seem quite a bit improved and much better than expected. They can probably sneak up and beat you.
Baylor: Played Utah pretty tough, but only after knocking their QB out. Easily dispatched AFA. Verdict: About the same as expected. Tough team, but I don't see a deep run for them.
Cinci: Lost a close one to Pitt, beat the two other bad teams they played. Verdict: About the same as expected. Still a few years away at least.
Colorado: Snuck past NDSU, got beat easily by Nebraska, beat CSU easily. Verdict: Maybe a little disappointing considering the hype on transfers, but not a lot different than expectations. Still rely way too much on 3 players, with little production from the rest. Don't see a ton of wins for them.
Houston: Played OU pretty tough, creamed Rice, but got pounded by UNLV. Verdict: A bit better than expectations, considering their tough game against OU. Should still be a win for most teams.
Iowa State: Only two games played, but got a great win on the road against their rival. Verdict: Right about at expectations. Should be a tough team.
Kansas: With losses to UNLV and Illinois, probably the most disappointing team thus far in the Big XII. Verdict: I think they'll bounce back, but not a good look for Grimes. Another loss or two and the season could start to spiral for them.
Kansas State: Seem very impressive, though only a 7 point win @ Tulane seems like they undeperformed. Could just be a case of looking past them. Verdict: I think Kstate is still one of the teams to beat in the Big XII, could easily win the conference.
Oklahoma State: Close game vs Arkansas, but other than that, they've done exactly what they needed to do. Verdict: Similar to Kstate, should be considered a favorite to win the Big XII.
TCU: Disappointing loss to UCF, and a suprisingly close game against Stanford. Verdict: Still think they are a tough team, but they have a bit of Jekyll and Hyde to them. Tough to project.
Texas Tech: Lost big to WSU, but smoked the two easy teams they played. Verdict: I think they have a low ceiling for the season, but they are the type of team you don't want to get into a scoring match with. They can put up points on you quickly if you aren't defensively sound.
UCF: Nice come from behind win vs TCU. Easily won the two easy games they had. Verdict: Still adjusting, but they have a lot of talent, are well-coached, and can beat anyone. Darkhorse of the conference, IMO.
West Virginia: Loss to Penn St was expected, but tough to lose the backyard brawl. Verdict: Maybe a little bit below expectations due to the Pitt loss, but they still are good enough to beat anyone on in the conference on any given day.
