We have an old home security system and it's probably time to check out new technology and see if our current provider/monitoring system is market. Our home insurance requires that we have central station fire alarm monitoring. I don't know that I need security monitoring (currently paying for it), but the equipment (and corresponding noise) may be sufficient. I know back in the day, you could get the equipment and installation for free, coupled with a monitoring contract. Is that still a thing?

It's been 10 years since I've looked into this, well past time I think to reevaluate.

And a dog isn't a viable option. 😉
