A lot has been made the last few years about how dissatisfied the fans are with the offensive play calling, and yeah against SMU, sometimes the plays were a bit of a head scratcher, but that fourth and 1 call was awesome.

My thought this morning is that I would like to propose and submit my resume to the BYU athletic department to make a machine learning program to make and AI Andy Reid lol. You could train on every game that Andy Reid has ever called. There has to be a TV copy somewhere with tons of data available about exactly what play was run, what was the defensive formation, what was the time of the play, down and distance, outcome, etc. So then you just plug into the algorithm, the time, and defensive formation, and then it gives you the most optimal play call lol.

Obviously you would need to calibrate the model to account for things like Patrick mahomes, travis Kielce, etc who BYU just doesnt have, and you’d need to tune the model for the personal, talent level, NFL vs college, etc. Feels like the basketball team has a whole pile of cash to do cool stuff, maybe the football team should get some to help with the sentiment of, “A Rod isnt the guy,”
