I have been on the anti-ARod train for a while. I just really don't think he's
Got what it takes with play-calling, strategy, and innovation to provide what we need, especially now that we're playing a higher level of competition. Maybe he would be a good qb coach as he has shown to get a lot out of some quarterbacks, but as an offensive play caller he is not good.

What I've always wanted us to do is tap into other "coaching trees" for different thought processes. Don't get me wrong, I love LaVell's coaching tree and wish we would capitalize on that influence more, especially if Brian Billick, Andy Reid were willing to help out with consultation and recommendations for who they think would "fix" our offense.

What I hate is the influence of the Yewts on our coaching. Kalani and ARod both learned to coach up there. I know Jay Hill did as well and I believe he is the outlier. The Yewts have had some success, but it was mostly due to Meyer in my opinion, who was an outsider and completely changed everything in that program; Whittingham just inherited it and has tried to keep it going, which is smart, but we know they haven't been offensive geniuses up there.

In my opinion, BYU has a much wider and better nationwide reputation than the Yewts and I believe we can attract good up and coming coaches outside of the Yewt influence, especially if they are recommended by other well-known, good coaches who are not Yewts.

I really think tapping into Sark's coaching tree would be beneficial. He's a great coach. I know he's had struggles in his life, but he's a great college coach who wins. He's in the LaVell coaching tree, but has been influenced by some of the best coaches outside of LaVell, including Saban.

My hope is ARod is replaced by someone from outside the Yewt influence who will provide a different perspective and strategy.

I am pulling for our offense this year, I just don't have confidence in ARod's ability to modify things. He loves throws to the sideline, behind the line of scrimmage. He is hesitant to go down the middle. He loves the shotgun snap, even in short yardage situations. I do not believe he emphasizes the "little things" based on the number of situational mistakes our players make. I believe we have now had a few years where his inability to change philosophies and augment his play calling shows he is what he is. We need change.

I am happy we won last night! Go Cougs! For today: Go Baylor!
