I lived in Big Ten country for many years and watched a lot of Big Ten football.
A lot of “ugly” football, with low-scoring games in which defenses dominated and offenses struggled. Even when one of the teams (or both) was ranked, in many cases. Last night’s BYU game reminded me of many of those games.

Because of our legacy and history of potent offenses, I think the BYU fanbase tends to evaluate BYU teams based largely on how the offense plays. But in the Big 12, playing against P4 defenses every week, we’re probably going to see a lot more games with ugly offensive performances, like last night (and like all those Big Ten games I watched). And we’re going to have to learn how to win more than our fair share of those ugly games. So last night was encouraging in this respect.

Just my 2 cents.
