1. Proposition 1-- Fans assume all questions marks will be answered affirmatively;
2. Proposition 2-- Fans assume all recruits will meet or exceed initial hype;
3. Proposition 3-- Fans believe "insider" reports how practices exhibit extreme athleticism, great shooting and fabulous defense;
4. Proposition 4-- Fans assume other programs stood still and that their program therefore lept beyond competing programs;

taken together all set fans up for disappointment when any of the foregoing propositions prove untrue.

Falling short of expectations is the norm, and exceeding them is rare.
