Offense:
FG Shooting: (B-) 45.8% is slightly below our season average, but some of that is from chucking up shots in the closing minutes
3PT Shooting: (D) Not much to be said here. Ball didn't go in the hoop, but we also didn't have a lot of open looks. Needed a lot more from our shooters here.
FT Shooting: (A) Remarkable improvement over the season in FT shooting
Turnovers: (A-) Better than season average, 17 points of TO
Paint production: (A+) this was available all night and had great plays from all the players in the paint
Offensive Rebounds: (B+) More offensive boards than 'Bama, but it didn't seem like they turned into a lot of second chance points
Offense Overall: (B-) 88 points should be enough to win a lot of games against a 2-seed. But better 3pt production would have changed the feel of the game.
Defense:
FG Defense: (D) Bama shot 53% overall.
3PT Defense: (F) This was, of course, where the game was lost. A combination of them shooting lights out, but we didn't get around screens fast enough and they had way too many open looks.
Turnovers: (A-) 10 steals is above our season average and they did turn into 13 fast break points.
Inside defense: (B) Only 16 points in the paint for Bama. The lived outside and killed us there. Only 1 block keeps this from being an A.
Defensive Rebounds: (C) Fewer defensive rebounds than Bama, and it seemed like a lot of their offensive rebounds were immediately kicked out for an open 3.
Defense Overall: (D-) Played decent in a few aspects, but couldn't stop the white hot shooting.
Overall grade: (D+) Even though I think there are lots of areas where we actually played really well, can't really give any better grade when you get blown out by 25.
Despite the loss, the future is bright. This was a fun season and next year should be fun as well.
