I remember taking my boys to watch an early out of conference game against Idaho. Even though we ended up winning, we looked terrible and they hung with us for most of the game. I was faking excitement for my boys but inside I was thinking, “Man this team isn’t going anywhere.” Which was fine because after Pope left I had no hope that this season would be anything other than a rebuilding year. I told myself then that I would not be traveling to anymore basketball games this year because it’s not worth the hassle or money.

Fast forward a couple months and this team has become my favorite BYU team of all time. I thought if we could just go 3-3 through the last 6 games of the conference that would be amazing. And then we won them all. This team has completely blown away my wildest dreams of what could happen after we heard that our coach and top recruit were leaving. Huge credit to Kevin Young and the staff for coming in ready to win and developing this team into the group they are today.

Win or lose today it’s been a fun ride. The future is bright and it’s a great time to be a Cougar fan.
