He has a clean/smooth looking stroke that looks natural. His 28% 3pt percentage would feel much worse if he had an awkward release.
His 3pt percentage took a huge hit during an 8 game stretch starting with Providence. He had a bad game, got hurt, and then missed nearly a month. All that before jumping into Big12 play. So including the rough game at Providence, and then coming back from injury and having to get back into game shape while adjusting to Big12 physicality, he had a stretch where he shot 3/32 from three point range (9.4%).
If you take out those game, he's shooting a respectable 34%. Yes I know that's cheating to remove rough patches from season long percentages, but considering the circumstances of jumping into Big12 play after missing a month, it's understandable for a freshman to struggle.
Point is, he is and will be a better shooter than his season average suggests. As fun as it would be to have him play with AJ next season, it's probably best for the long-term success of the program for him to go into the draft. Really excited to see how he develops at the next level.
