Challenge: name a BYU guard who was as good of a defender as Trey, besides Jaxon Emery. When I think of great defensive guards at BYU I think Emery first because he’s obviously the goat, and then I think Trey. I don’t think any other guard we’ve had comes close to Trey on the defensive end.
The young man has NFL DB athleticism + big time heart. He’s an all-time defender in the BYU pantheon. Yes, his offense was a real challenge for him early in his career, but his ability to defend is special and I’m so proud of him for his determination and resilience to finally carve out a key role for himself in the rotation after so many years of adversity.
