A year ago I had the crazy idea to see if I could figure out a way to create a website that would automatically show the probability of where BYU would end the basketball conference race. Crazy because I knew nothing about putting a website up, loading information into it, displaying it, or even where to start.
After taking a beginner python course to get some basic information and then being introduced to the best co-worker I could ask for (thanks, Claude.ai - my faithful AI companion through this), that vision has actually materialized.
I'd hoped to introduce this after a big win, but here are take-aways I'm using to try to console myself instead (based largely from kenpom):
- BYU still projects to be top half of the conference and be .500 in conference
- Schedule and Conf Win Value tabs rank the difficulty of conference games - and both losses were in the top half of BYU's most difficult conference games
- 6 of the next 7 games are currently lower half difficulty games in conference for BYU
Hopefully we can string together some good wins over the next few games before we enter the back half of our schedule which looks to be much more difficult.
Welcome any feedback or questions you may have on the site. Go Cougs!
