It’s easy to pile on after bad and costly loss. I’m going to restrain my comments to some things that have been evident all year, although there’s a lot more to yewt and moan about:

1) We’re not generating good looks from our offense, and it takes us way too long to get any look at all. Our sets do not put enough pressure on the opposing defense. In fact, we end up with the pressure on us as the first 15 seconds of the shot clock are too often just wasted.

2) We don’t punish the opposition for putting pressure on us defensively. The word is out. Get right in our face, nose to nose, and be physical. We have no answer other than isolating Fouss. Richie can beat you to the hole. That’s about it for consistent offense.

3) Our perimeter D is rather awful. This isn’t new. You can see it even as we were blowing out lousy teams early. We were outshot severely in our own gym tonight from outside.

4) We shoot free throws like a high school JV squad.

5) We’re somewhere between inconsistent and just not very good at shooting the basketball, particularly against capable defenses.

Let me emphasize the word “if” here. IF we do not find significant answers to these issues and fast, this is a bottom 25% Big 12 squad this year that won’t sniff postseason play, and KY will start to face heavy scrutiny on the recruiting trail.
