I gave it to him 'A Christmas Story' style.
He wanted this present more than anything. Asked a million times a day for months.
He got other things he really wanted too, but this one I hid from the other presents.
After all the kids opened everything, and he expressed gratitude, I could tell he was still disappointed.
I stretched it out pretty long after everything was opened, but I asked him to fetch me a screwdriver to help me with another kid's present in a drawer.
When he saw there was an extra present addressed to him, and that it was what he asked for, he cried and gave his mom and me a hug and has been on cloud 999 all day.
As Willy Wonka once said: 'You know what happened to the guy who got everything he ever wanted? He lived happily ever after.'
And all I ever wanted was really great kids, and I got them.
(I also wanted a remote controlled airplane since I was 8 and never got it.)
