’Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the land,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a hand.
The Cougars were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of touchdowns danced in their heads.

And Kalani in his headset, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a well-deserved nap.
When out on the field there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters, and threw up the sash.
The stadium lights, shining bright in the night,
Revealed a new star in the Cougar's fight.

On the field, with a roar and a powerful stride,
Came Keanu Tanuvasa, with strength as his guide!
His arms were like boulders, his stance full of pride,
A linebacker so fierce, he'd never subside.

And there, too, was Smith Snowden, so fast and so sleek,
A cornerback rising, no man could defeat.
With agility pure and a game-breaking style,
He'd cover the field with a smile all the while.

They flew past the goalposts, both quick as a breeze,
Shaking up offenses with effortless ease.
As the ball was thrown high, to the end zone they flew,
Tanuvasa leapt up, bringing down that catch too!

With Snowden on coverage, the receivers fell short,
Each play was a battle, each pass a report.
The Cougars were soaring, they’d conquered the day,
And with Tanuvasa and Snowden, the defense held sway.

“On, Tanuvasa! On, Snowden! Let’s shut down the game!”
“On, defense! On, offense! Bring glory and fame!”
As the Cougars took charge with their might and their speed,
The crowd roared with joy, as BYU would lead.

And then, with a whistle, the game came to an end,
The Cougars had won, with their hearts they’d defend.
Keanu and Smith, both heroes tonight,
Had helped lead their team to another great fight.

As the players all left, with their helmets held high,
The stars up above in the cold winter sky,
Seemed to wink with a gleam, as if they could see,
The future of BYU—how bright it would be.

So on Christmas Eve, as the night settled in,
The Cougars took a bow—what a season to win!
And as we all slept, dreaming of next year’s cheer,
We knew BYU’s glory was already here.
