Why not have the NFL get involved in crafting the g league for football by taking it from the NCAA and building a two conference four division replica of the NFL but with twice the number of teams due to number of programs and regionality.
Now we have the ACFC and the NCFC with four divisions of 8 or 9 teams each using the division champions and wildcard system the NFL uses.
Teams play all their division opponents leaving 4 or 5 games left. 3 to play conference opponents in other divisions and 1 or 2 to play inter conference opponents
Preseason won't count, but will be allowed to play two body bag games with former g5 or FCS opponents.
Officiating will no longer be conference centric, but a g league in itself where officials are competing to week their way up to officiate NFL games ladder.
The former g5 and FC's would be a feeder system into the new NFL Collegiate Football System where NIL and Portal works to find this guy's that didn't blow up on high school, but are ready to take their game to the next level.
