Amazing how much money Disney's remakes earn while having almost zero cultural
impact. The only one that seems a true bomb was Mulan. The numbers are crazy, but no one ever talks about them, they gave rise to no new stars, it's like they never existed.

I assume Snow White will flop and the one about the alien in Hawaii will do well. Curious to see how Mufasa does. It looks lifeless and awful, but maybe people won't care.

For reference:

Lion King (2019): $1.66B; 10th highest grossing movie ever

Beauty and the Beast (2017): $1.26B; 20th highest grossing ever

Aladdin (2019): $1.05B; 44th highest grossing ever

Alice in Wonderland (2010): $1.03B; 40th highest grossing ever

Cruella (2021): $234M

Dumbo (2019): $353M

Christopher Robin (2018): $198M

The Jungle Book (2016): $967M

Cinderella (2015): $542M

Maleficent (2014): $756M

Maleficent 2 (2019): $492M
*I didn't know this movie existed

Alice through the Looking Glass (2016): $300M
*I had no idea this movie was ever made, and it made more money than the original Ghostbusters, X-Men, Bourne Supremacy, etc. Even accounting for inflation that's crazy.
