Our bishop's daughter is serving a mission in Vanuatu. The earthquake last night knocked out most of the communication infrastructure on the island, at least temporarily. Our bishop's wife was obviously quite concerned about her daughter's safety and hadn't yet heard anything from the MP or missionary department. A post from PKCoug indicated that his wife's family members reported that all missionaries were safe and accounted. I passed this along to the bishop's wife, with the caveat that it wasn't an official source, but CB has usually been pretty good on this type of news.
Anyway, she let us know this afternoon that the missionary department was finally able to contact all parents to let them know that PKCoug's information was accurate (I'm sure that's exactly how they phrased it).
She wanted me to thank the "BYU alumni chat" (not exactly as cool a name as "Cougar friends" from a couple months back) as a whole for easing a worried mother's mind and giving her hope until she heard officially.
Well done, CB.
