high volume 3pt attempts (> three 3ptA per game) that also shot better than 38% on those attempts. BYU wasn't close last year.
So far this year they have the following:
Knell - 44.7% on 5.2 3ptA/gm
Saunders - 40% on 5 3ptA/gm
Demin - 38.5% on 4.9 3ptA/gm
Baker - 37.5% on 3.5 3ptA/gm
Hall - 34.8% on 4.6 3ptA/gm
BYU is closer to where they need to be, but this is of course before the schedule ramps up. Those percentages are almost certain to dip in Big12 play, probably for every one of those players. Catchings is hoisting 6.5 attempts/gm, so him coming up from his current 30% is as important as these other guys maintaining their pace. But while the shooting has been solid so far it isn't good enough to sustain the defensive lapses and open shots they are regularly giving up once the competition gets a lot tougher.
