Warm take: I still think Baker is a cohesion problem. His personal game has improved and he has shown he can take
over in moments. However, to coin a Pope-ism, the floor becomes extremely sticky when he is on the court. It then becomes jimmer-esque where guys are waiting around not moving while Baker creates his own shot driving to the basket. I am not criticizing his game at the moment in terms of his personal skills and what he is doing in isolation. He is solid when receiving the ball when positioning himself behind the arc to shoot threes, but imo he is weak in contributing to the cohesion of the team which is much smoother and non sticky when they are all forced to participate in motion and not stand around.

Yesterday there were several times when Baker was on the court where suddenly two even at one point three guys were just standing around and it contributed to turnovers as well as forced offensive efforts. I don't think it is Baker's fault, but it is just he isn't imo a good fit for this team. Even during the games with Ole Miss and NCSt, you could see these moments of liquid gold on the court where everything was flowing quickly and each player understands their role.

Again I am not criticizing Baker for have a "bad game" or not having skills and talent. I am saying that his type of skills and talent imo doesn't seem to work or flow well with what KY is attempting to do with this team.

If this were a few years ago and we were reviving the Jimmer years with Baker as the point I could see it working, where everything went through him and he was putting up 26 plus points a game playing 30 plus minutes while everyone else was the support crew. Baker imo would thrive in an offense like that.
