Pregame take: This is a really, really bad Fresno team with a new coach and we should absolutely smoke them. But I have no confidence in that with how poorly we've been playing, even against terrible opponents. We'll see.
Love the drive and dish from Kanon, that's what we've been waiting for, stop settling for ugly threes and put more pressure on the defense. His pass was perfect for Knell to knock it down.
It's been years since I've seen a BYU team this bad defensively on the perimeter. The number of open looks every single opponent gets from three is unreal. They also seem to easily knock down contested threes on the few occasions we close out, so somehow we also are not contesting in the right way. Does anyone play worse 3pt D in the country? How is it not possible for the coaches to improve this? The whole team seems so worried about the paint and switches down so often instead of out that it's inevitable to give up threes.
Keita can't help himself. 2 or 3 just stupid, unnecessary, non-shooting, dumb fouls every game.
Man, Bosko. Just so disappointing. I expected so much more for a guy with his experience level, but to be honest he's been mostly terrible this season. Such bad decision making. So careless with the ball. His flashes of brilliance seem to be happening less frequently. It's as if he thinks every game is a pickup game at the gym and doesn't count in the standings. He's not serious, just here to goof around. I don't get it.
Fouss is so great. The Dancing Bear!!! Old reliable. Going to miss him so much next year.
Crawford has a wide open Bosko down low, telegraphs the pass, right at the defender's arm, face palm. He really is so far behind Demin. Needs to learn a simple look-off tactic.
Kanon can handle. He can drive against similarly sized defenders. Set him loose. He's got to build that aggressive mentality. Drill him over and over on going to the hoop, but don't be ashamed to dump it off if the lane closes down. He's doing a decent job finding shooters on the perimeter.
Crawford and Baker on the floor together still isn't working particularly well. Has me a bit worried if we're supposed to be counting on that for productive minutes next season.
Defensive intensity and effort finally picked up a bit in the second quarter.
Good things keep happening when Kanon goes to the rim. We desperately need that consistently to open up the offense.
