This should be obvious, but I want to make sure. The team playing in a bowl game - and their CURRENT conference - get the payout for this year's bowl games, right? So if Colorado & BYU play each other in the Alamo bowl, the B12 gets the whole $8.5M (or whatever), correct?
The first line in this article says, "The Pac-12 Conference has announced its bowl game lineup for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, which includes six tie-ins." It makes it sound like the P12 still has something to do with these 6 bowl games.
And relatedly, how does the conference divvy up the bowl payouts? Does the participating team get more than just their expenses covered?
