Tattoos in my lifetime. Late 80’s/early 90’s - some military veterans, bikers, convicts and the occasional pro athlete
with one or two tattoos. General society didn’t have them as they made you borderline unemployable. There were no face or blackout tattoos during this time among polite society.
Late 90’s/Early 2000’s - tramp stamps, upper back tattoos and the some tribal tattoos on the upper arm. No face, neck or blackout tattoos among polite society.
Late 2000’s/early 2010’s - Sleeve tattoos are becoming the norm but neck tattoos are still taboo and made fun on in pop culture as in movies and such. Still no face, neck and blackout tattoos among polite society.
Late 2010’s/early 2020’s - Sleeves are beyond common place, neck tattoos are as common as sleeves from the prior decade and face tattoos emerge but still no blackout tattoos among polite society.
2024 - blackout tattoos are skyrocketing in popularity. My least favorite tattoo style of all.
