coming so close, but by any objective standard this was a very successful season for BYU football:
- We won 10 games for only the 3rd time since 2011, and we have a chance to win 11
- We tied for first place in a power conference and only missed playing in the CCG due to obscure tiebreakers
- We defeated 8 power conference teams this season, comfortably the most in program history, and have a chance to get #9; only a handful of other teams have beaten that many P4 teams so far this year
- We defeated a Top 10 team on the road; if SMU finishes in the Top 10, I believe it will be the first time in program history that BYU has a true road win over a team that is in the Top 10 at the end of the season
- We beat utah at RES for the first time in 18 years
- We will go to our best bowl game since probably 1996, and probably face a P4 opponent in a bowl for only the second time since 2009.
- We will probably finish ranked, and have a chance to finish ranked in the Top 15 for only the fourth time since 1996, if we win our bowl game
