There is no way they can justify keeping a big 12 conference champion out of the playoff, so long as the winner of the conference championship game has two losses. I think while they have people ranked where they are currently, how things play out with a conference championship games can’t have a major influence on how they view the whole season, with some of these three teams, potentially more depending on who wins each conference championship game. Maybe I’m just hopeful, but that is how I see it.


The best case scenario for the big 12, in all honesty, is to have Kansas State beat Iowa State, SMU went out and win the ACC championship, and have BYU beat Arizona State in the conference championship game. With the potential of BYU, beating three ranked teams in the final college playoff poll with winds over Kansas State, SMU, and Arizona State, the committee would then be able to move them up without much uproar as they do have a win over the ACC champion, and two other wins over top 25 teams.
