I never expected it to be as good as the original...and yet, I was still disappointed. I feel like they could have done something with the characters they created, but the writing just wasn't there. By the end it got pretty non-sensical and their attempts to hit you in the member-berries totally fell flat. But honestly my biggest complaint: how do you not get Hans Zimmer back as the composer? The original soundtrack is one of my all-time favorites. The sequel's soundtrack isn't in the same universe. I hate modern Hollywood's aversion to melodies and leitmotif, instead using just tones and chords. Amazing to me that a movie made 20+ years later is inferior in every single way to the original.
