- I love that it worked and that the team played much better in the 2nd half
- I hate that it took a passionate halftime speech from a player to motivate the team to play better in one of the bigger games for the program in recent history. How could we come out so flat in such a big game and then figure things out at halftime?
- I hate that somebody with ASU credentials was able to get access to the hallway where our team was meeting and to record a private team meeting. I think the Big 12 should investigate and possibly issue a fine over it - this has game integrity implications, similar to stealing signals. I also think BYU should post somebody at the door now to prevent something like this happening. This is a very bad look for ASU.
- This isn't going to be popular, but I hate the use of profanity. I'm not naive enough to think it doesn't happen - I've certainly played enough sports to know that language like that is common - even expected. I'm not particularly offended by that language, either. But it does rub me the wrong way that a church sponsored institution would tolerate it so freely. I assume that Kalani and Tom Holmoe were in the room and were okay with it, which means this is probably the norm. But I think the majority of church members would be uncomfortable with this kind of language. One of my biggest draws to the BYU program is how it's just a little big different than all the other programs.
- I love that the team does a really good job of keeping any use of profanity private and hidden from the public. The ASU coach didn't have any problem swearing up a storm to the refs with a bunch of students around him and national TV cameras zoomed in on his face. You'd never see Kalani or a BYU player do that (Byron Rex exempted). So I guess we are a little bit different.
