1. money. BYU can match or exceed any offer USU can give him, and they probably will

2. Stability. While he’ll get a 5 year deal at USU, he’s got a job at BYU as long as Sitake is here if he wants it, and he’s first in line to replace him.

3. Higher competition. BYU was in the conversation for cfb playoff all year, and still is. They will have a chance most years in the b12

4. Better talent. We’ve already seen BYU recruit better under hill. It will be much harder to get that type of talent at USU.

5. Close to home. He’s always been in Utah, and apparently isn’t interested in leaving. Yeah, he gets that with USU as well, but it’s not like that’s an advantage for USU.

Now maybe he wants to be a head coach. Maybe he wants to run his own program. He might want the challenge of building a program back up like Bronco does. I’m not sure the stress level is that much different between the 2 jobs. Who knows what’s most important to him. I won’t pretend to know him or what he wants. I hope he stays though.
