Tribute to my dad, Coach Steve Clark, retiring after 24 seasons
On Saturday, my dad officially retired from coaching college football after a 24-year career. It was thought he would take a break from coaching after being blindsided at the end of 2023. But he couldn’t turn down the opportunity to join my brother at Utah Tech.

It was a tough season to go out on - Utah Tech only finished 1-11 - and he suffered a heart attack midseason (he has since recovered with no permanent damage). But I think it was one of his most impressive coaching feats. His tight ends combined for the highest yards-per-game mark - 70 Rec / 919 Yds / 8 TD - since becoming a tight ends coach in 2016. And that was with the team juggling three different quarterbacks and his best player being out for 5 games. I bet BYU would love to have that kind of production out of their tight ends.

More than the wins and losses, I’m most proud of the man my dad has been from the start to finish. The impact he’s made on his players goes far deeper than the game.

The end has been bittersweet, but he goes out on top in my book. Congratulations on a truly amazing 24-year ride, Dad.
