There were some wide open deep passes yesterday I was certain he would hit or at least get the distance on and they were under-thrown. Arm strength isn’t usually at the top of our concerns for him. He used to be near the top of the leaderboard in all of college for big-time throws, and his bigger issue at BYU has been overthrowing and balls sailing on him further than needed.

I really don’t think we’d even be having some of these conversations about Jake if he was hitting some of the deep passes and our drives weren’t taking 10-20 plays. It seems like the injury he’s had must still be affecting him because it feels like watching a different QB entirely.

Hopefully something changes before Houston. The Cougs held Baylor to 3 points in the second half and intercepted Sawyer Robertson 3 times. There could be some real concerns if we have Retzlaff showing a weak arm in that one.
