Thoughts on the game start with this: it's great to have Hall back.
He makes us better offensively and defensively. There were none of the vast droughts of poor offensive execution we've seen through the first few games when Demin is off the floor, I believe due largely to Hall's influence. He just runs everything better than Crawford and Baker, but also Baker is improving in that regard and seems each game to be showing an increased willingness to pass.

Only complaint about Hall is he was a bit too eager to shoot the three, shot great when he was open, but had a couple ill-advised shots. Hopefully that's just over-excitement in his first game back.

I think this was our best game so far defensively. Fewer missed assignments and bad switches. I'm not saying we're near where we need to be or that this is no longer a weakness for this team.

Mag, I just feel so bad for the guy, he's so BAD offensively. And he's still getting burned on D. He's probably been one of the bigger disappointments for me on the whole roster to start the season. Not sure how he's going to crack a tighter conf play rotation.

Other than that silly TO near the end, I thought Knell played really well. Defended, passed, hit a couple threes.

Lots of hand-wringing on CB over Hall and Demin and who's who at PG. Overblown, silly, much ado about nothing. Coach appears determined to start them both and play them together quite a bit, and it looks like it'll work fine.

Baker was good. Did Baker things. Love to see it.

Bosko doesn't always make the right play, but at times he makes spectacular plays. Looking forward to seeing more of him. So far, in my opinion, he gives us a lot more than Mag does in probably just about every way.

Catchings was better after three straight bad games. Finally wasn't forcing as much.

This game to me had a totally different vibe than any of the first four. I might be imagining it, and that's fine. But what I thought I saw was a more controlled, calmer, self-possessive team out there that played with more intent on both sides. They seemed somehow, in a way, less youthfully exuberant and explosive and error-prone but more business-like. It seemed like there were fewer alley-oops and no single player really taking over the game, but more plays and more penetration that generated layup opportunities for a long list of scorers. Could that be the effect of Hall, or is it just a fluke, or is it the result of practice and confidence in the systems? Of all the games so far, this one felt most similar to our OOC games last year. I choose to believe these are good signs that the players' fit into the system is maturing.
