… NOT a college sports town.
It was great having so many BYU fans there, but I don’t think the vast majority of the fans there (ASU and BYU) really turned the crowd into a major advantage. Maybe it was better in the solid blue visitors section corner, but we were about 60% BYU fans in our area (on about the 40 yard line, and about 30 rows up) and it was like pulling teeth trying to rally noise on crucial downs.
Players on the field and sideline were having to signal for noise so often and even then most just didn’t seem to know why they should do that.
Most people around town that I talked to didn’t seem to know there was even a big college football game going on…
