lunch with my coworker that sits across from me at our desks. Just chewing the fat, nothing out of the ordinary at lunch. Two hours later my manager walks over, pulls him aside, coworker comes back, packs his bag, and leaves. I'm just sitting there working and thinking nothing of it, except that it was a bit odd that he was leaving work after my manager pulled him aside.
Next thing I know we have an emergency team meeting and they announce that my coworker has been let go.
I have so many questions that I'm not sure are appropriate to ask haha. I have just recently, within the last 2 weeks, come back into office on a hybrid schedule after being remote, so I guess there is info that my other coworkers are privy to that I have no idea about. None of them seemed all that surprised.
Kind of sad because he just recently had his first kid within the last few 6ish months.
