Retzlaff has had just 3 (yes, 3) completions thrown in air over 30 yds vs P4
...opponents all season. This is not good at all.

Some on CB have to stop using terms like he is an "elite" deep ball threat, etc. He is not.

That said, he has been an adequate game manager all season other than vs Kansas. His bright spots are him showing poise in key moments with good end of game focus during the final 2 minutes vs OK St, Utah.

His stats really only show he is an adequate game manager. He's completing just 58% of his passes (below average) needs to get this up to closer to 65%+ (Jaren was 66% his Sr. year and Zach W. was 73.5% his Sr yr.)

His TD to Int ratio is below average at ~2:1-- this is poor. For comparison, Zach had 11:1 ratio (33 TDs to 3 ints) his Sr yr and Jaren had over a 5:1 ratio his Sr. yr (31:6)

He does have 300 yds rushing to date which is good (Jaren had over 300 yds both Jr and Sr years along with a better YPC avg than Jake, Zach peaked with 254 yds his Sr year and a slightly worse YPC avg)

BYU's defense has the most credit in getting this team to a 9-1 record, along side special teams creating numerous TD's and short fields for the offense to capitalize on.

Last I calculated which doesnt include the Kansas and Utah games, the Defense/Special Teams was responsible for roughly 1/3 of the teams point production, which has masked much of the offensive deficiencies. The single game the Defense and Special Teams didnt score points (but did create turnovers) is the game the offensive weakness was exposed.

When people complain about Vegas disrespecting us-- they are not. It's because of the weakness on offense, terrible 3rd down conversions and yes, some luck on BYU's end. It's why ASU is favored by 3pts at this point as well. BYU has scored just a single offensive TD vs both Kansas and Utah. That is concerning.

That said, it has been a fun season to watch and very entertaining. I really hope the offense wakes up in Tempe and we can pull it out, but ASU has a scrappy, good defense and if BYU's offense comes out flat vs ASU, the same way they did vs OSU, Utah and Kansas-- it will be a long day. Arod is not they guy long term. He is being buoyed by the defense thus far.
