As most of you know I have been very critical of Kalani Sitake. IMO (these were prior to this season) he was too inconsistent and a pretty terrible recruiter. I haven't liked aspects of his program that to me show a lack of accountability.

But, when was the last time you heard me complain about Kalani? It has been a long while? Why? We are 9-1 and I am enjoying the ride.

The team has not been perfect nor has recruiting. But how in the world could anyone possibly complain about 9-1 in our 2nd year in the Big 12? It is nonsensical. Will I complain about clock management issues or whatever else? Sure, but Coach Sitake has done a brilliant job this year.

I would tell you the same thing about any of our coaches. We are 9-1 and 14th in the country despite our average recruiting ranking for the classes playing being over 60. Jake Retzlaff is a competent QB. I wasn't sure that could happen with his throwing motion. Heck it was either BYU or UTEP for him, not exactly a glowing recommendation.

Did the offense cost us the game last week? Mostly although if we don't cough up the ball on a pooch punt we likely win. See football is a game where the offense/special teams/defense all compliment each other. If the defense holds on the first drive on Saturday would it have turned out different? Almost assuredly yes. That being said the defense pulled it together. The offense which only had 8 drives to work with squandered two drives with zero points in the red zone. You put up 2 TDs on those drives and 27 points on 8 drives is ELITE. It didn't happen. Players need to get better and coaches as well in that aspect. They have been better so I expect them to get back to that.

But can we stop with the nonsense calling for coaches heads? We are 9-1. Do I think BYU would be better if Jay Hill was the HC? Maybe...but if Tom made that move today I would call him crazy. Why? Things are working. This is the best BYU team in a long time. Jake Retzlaff made some mistakes on Saturday that I think Bohanon could have played better, but if you bench Retzlaff at 9-1 then you are dumb.

Enjoy the ride. Quit pretending like you could call a better game than A-Rod. Most of you can't even figure out when it is an audible and when it isn't. BYU will be better this week offensively, you can book it. But this team that Vegas predicted at 4.5 wins is 9-1. The coaches have been great. Enjoy the ride!
