I’ve been pulled over twice by the police while riding. Both for the same issue.

Context: I ride at 5AM, in a group doing a loop through south to north mesa and back. At that time and in a group, it helps mitigate the risk of injury/indecent.

My bike has two lights on the back, one is flashing red and alerts me when cars are behind me.

The other is the offending issue: it flashes between blue and red. Cops have pulled me over because they feel it impersonates emergency signals. Both times I cited the Arizona revised statute that allows me to use a light like that so long as traffic in front of me can’t see it.

They’ll hem and haw while finally letting me off with a warning, lol.

But hey, at least I’m seen and visible
