IMO, the truthful and practical takeaways from last night...
1. We were never really a Top 10 team. At this point in the season there's plenty of objective data on everybody and the numbers say we're more likely a 20-25ish team. Obviously we all would've killed for that in August.

2. The Utah game has to be played Thanksgiving weekend. You don't play it mid-season. You just don't. It's not a coincidence both of us played our worst game of the season this Saturday. That can't happen again and Holmoe and Harlan need to push hard to make sure it doesn't.

3. We have some really great talent at quite a few positions. Some of the best we've ever had in spots. But not everywhere. No sense beating anybody up over it, but to be a truly special team we will need more from a few areas than what we have now. It is what it is.

4. Our worst-case scenario is ~10 wins, beating Utah, and the best bowl game we've had in an eternity. The end of a long winning streak was always going to be a bitter pill to swallow, but I think an optimistic view of this season and the immediate future is more than justified.

5. In a given year, maybe 5-6 teams end up being truly special. Everybody else has at least one "what if" night like last night, with all the same reactions and complaints CB has this morning. The only thing unique about being a BYU fan right now is that our big "what if" moment came later than almost everybody else's. Otherwise, welcome back to college football reality.
